JOB SUMMARY:
Under the directions of the Director, the ACT Mental Health Clinician is responsible for assessing, planning, developing, coordinating, and providing treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to program participants. They provide service coordination for assigned Participants including coordinating and monitoring activities of the individual treatment team (ITT). They assume primary responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating, and revising overall treatment goals and plans in collaboration with the Participant and the ITT, providing individual supportive therapy and symptom management, ensuring immediate changes are made in treatment plans as Participants' needs change, educating and supporting Participants' families and advocating for Participants' rights and preferences.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Master's degree in behavioral sciences (i.e. social work, psychology, rehabilitation counseling or occupational therapy).
  • License in Social Work, Family Therapy, Psychiatric Nursing, Counseling or Occupational Therapy.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least three (3) years' relevant experience with adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses; or 2 years relevant experience with adults with severe and persistent mental illness and one year supervisory experience.
  • Must have at least 2 years' experience or training in addictions OR a LADAC (strongly preferred).

LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN WITH SUBSTANCE ABUSE SPECIALITY:

  • Must have at least 2 years' experience or training in addictions OR a LADAC (strongly preferred).
  • Assumes designated responsibility to provide and coordinate substance abuse assessment, treatment planning, and service delivery tailored to the individual needs of clients with dual disorders of mental illness and substance use.
  • Coordinates external substance abuse treatment services; self-help programs; outpatient services, detoxification services and residential facilities that are specifically adapted to clients with dual diagnosis.
  • Serves as a resource to the team regarding substance issues
  • Assists in the provision of individual and group treatment in the office and community settings in a stage-based treatment model that is non-confrontational, considers interactions of mental illness and substance abuse, and has client-determined goals.
